One resident told the M.E.N: “I just moved here a year ago and it’s really weird to see that on your doorstep. As a neighbour I need to know the full story. I want to know.”
Another described the scene as they returned home from work, adding: “All I know is that I came home and saw lots of police. I don’t know what happened but it looks pretty serious.”
A third homeowner of The Woods added: “The police came here around 4 I think. There was the gas people and a fire engines too. It’s a nice area so we don’t see many things like this.”
Greater Manchester Police remained in attendance late into the evening. The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service also confirmed they attended the incident.
