“For both parties” – Carlton Palmer reflects on experienced player’s spell at Luton Town
Looking to mount another promotion push when the 2022/23 Championship campaign gets underway in late July, Nathan Jones will be looking to continue his progress at Luton Town.
Finishing sixth in the 46-game season last time out, before being narrowly edged out of the semi-finals of the play-offs, naturally, expectations will rise next year at Kenilworth Road.
One player that came in and helped Luton reach a higher gear later on in the campaign was Robert Snodgrass, with the experienced midfielder joining on a short-term contract in late February.
Speaking to FLW and assessing the short-term move to Kenilworth Road, Carlton Palmer said: “I mean, they took him on a short-term contract. And that was for both parties.
“Robert needed to get some fitness and get some games and he did well.
“Luton just missed out, they had a fantastic season, they were in the playoffs in the championship.”
The verdict
Snodgrass’ technical ability, grit in the midfield positions, and character around the changing room during the latter stages of the season.
The 34-year-old had to bode his time for a while before starting his first league game away at Huddersfield, a month and a half after his arrival.
The Hatters have offered the experienced midfielder fresh terms to stay at Kenilworth Road, with Snodgrass currently considering what he has been offered.
Should he decide to sign again for Nathan Jones and Co. then it would be an excellent bit of business from the Hatters, with Snodgrass not only contributing on the pitch but within the dressing room too.
