Football Manager 2023: Five Fallen Giant save ideas

Football Manager 2023 is set to come out later this year.

While the game hasn’t been officially announced, it is almost certain that it will release later this year.

The franchise has always followed an annual release schedule and there have been no signs that FM23 will be any different.

As a result, we expect it to release around November, with the beta coming two weeks prior, as was the case for FM22, FM21 and FM20.

We’ve had a look through a number of challenges that you can take on when the game releases, and now we’re looking at the best saves you can take on at so-called fallen giants.

Those are big teams that have fallen down the pyramid, or into disrepair, if you weren’t aware. Let’s get into it.

Nottingham Forest

They’re back in the Premier League and it’s going to be a huge challenge to keep them in the division.

It’s not just up to you to do that, it’s up to you to turn them back into the elite club they were under Brian Clough’s management.

That means winning the Premier League and the Champions League. No pressure!

Hamburg

They used to have Kevin Keegan!

Hamburg are six-time Bundesliga champions, and won the European Cup in 1983.

They haven’t actually won a major trophy since then – we’re not counting the Intertoto Cup, sorry – and it’s your challenge to end that drought.

Oh, and they’re also in the second division of German football so the first challenge is promotion.

Strap yourself in and get ready for a long save, here.

Saint-Etienne

Much like Hamburg, this is a previous giant that are now languishing in the second-tier in their country, this time in France.

They have won Ligue 1 no fewer than 10 times but haven’t managed it since 1982.

Get them back in the top-flight and win that trophy.
