Football fans spot one issue with huge 18-inch sausage roll on sale for £11

An 18-inch sausage roll spotted at a football stadium has sent fans into meltdown as they wondered who would purchase such a pastry.

On Twitter/X, Peter Hyam shared his amazement along with a photograph of the enormous snack item warming under the lights.

Notably, the image depicted three of these colossal sausage rolls and according to football enthusiast Peter, "not one has been sold," at the stadium where they were being offered.

The sheer scale of the sausage rolls has led some commentators to question its value for money, with certain individuals branding the foodstuff as "annoying" and predicting it could signal a trend towards outlandish edibles in stadiums worldwide.

Posting the snapshot from Portsmouth F. C.'s Fratton Park, Peter detailed: "18 inch sausage roll at Fratton Park. £11. Reliably informed, not one has been sold. For reference a normal 6 inch sausage roll Is £4.80."

In light of this prodigious offering, some suggested that it would be more practical if staff cut the item into smaller segments and sold them as regular-sized treats.

Comments included practical advice: "Why does it need to be so big? Cut it in half and sell each half for £3.50 each, all of a sudden it's not too bad." Meanwhile, others quipped, "We need a price per inch survey on sausage rolls."

Regardless of the humour circulating about the oversized sausage roll, many are left curious whether it will find buyers especially considering the array of more affordable dining options near the stadium.

One fan noted: "Fratton Park literally has a McDonalds next door (not to mention loads of burger vans outside) so you would think they would charge more competitive prices."

Another was infuriated by the sausage roll, calling it a "s**t idea"
