Football fans protest LIVE: Man United and Man City supporters join forces over ticket prices

Manchester United and Manchester City supporters will join forces today to protest rising ticket prices.

Supporting a Football Supporters' Association (FSA) campaign, United fans plan to hold a joint 'Stop Exploiting Loyalty' banner at the Trinity Statue along with Everton supporters before their Premier League clash at Old Trafford (1:30pm kick-off).

An FC58 spokesperson said: “The rivalry between these four clubs has been, and is fierce. But we all go to games, love our club and want to keep football affordable for future generations whilst protecting heritage and communities.”

It comes after United announced hiked ticket prices to £66 per game mid-season, with no concessions for children or pensioners and without fan consultation.

Meanwhile, travelling City fans will come together with Liverpool supporters before their match at Anfield (4pm kick-off).

Fans of both sides from the 1894, MCFC Fans Foodbank Support and Spirit of Shankly groups will gather by the Kop to pose in front of the banner at 3pm.

It adds that year-on-year, it is up to 4.4 percent more than treble the rate of inflation (1.2 percent).

Manchester City have the league's cheapest season ticket at £299. That's cheaper than at 15 Championship clubs, 10 clubs in League
