Football fan wins £158,000 from incredible 60p bet

The weekly accumulator is part of many football fans' rituals when the weekend arrives.

An audacious attempt to predict the outcomes of sometimes a ridiculous number of games hardly ever comes off, but when it does...

One football fan this week placed just 60p on the results of 16 games in the Premier League and Championship and walked away with a staggering £158,000 when they all came in.

The odds on their bet landing were over 263,109/1, reports The Mirror.

It wasn't plain sailing though for the lucky gambler as two late comebacks were needed from the 3pm kick-offs on Saturday, including Burnley's turnaround against fellow struggler Watford.

Goals in the 83rd and 86th minute put the Clarets 2-1 up and the punter one step closer to their amazing win.

Meanwhile, Southampton and Crystal Palace looked destined to be a 1-1 draw, before Wilfried Zaha scored for the Eagles in the 92nd minute to give them the win.

This left the punter needed Manchester City to earn three points against Leeds in the late kick-off to ensure that he won all the money. Inevitably, Pep Guardiola's side did just that cruising home 4-0.

Alex Apati from Ladbrokes said: "Our punter has played an absolute blinder here, correctly predicting the outcome of all 16 games in the top two tiers of English football on Saturday - and we've no doubt some of their winnings will be spent on a Wilfried Zaha shirt after the Palace man's dramatic winner kept the bet alive."

He added: "What makes the acca even more impressive is that there was just one draw across all 16 games, and our customer managed to pick it out; truly remarkable stuff and we're delighted for them."
