Folkestone Invicta skipper Kevin Lokko is looking forward to facing former defensive partner Joel-Michael Odeniran - after he helped 20-year-old sign for National League South rivals Maidenhead United

Captain Kevin Lokko is looking forward to facing a former Folkestone defensive partner as he explained the role he played in him joining a new divisional rival.

Lokko helped Invicta clinch the Isthmian Premier title alongside Joel-Michael Odeniran, with Folkestone having the division’s second-best defensive record.

Odeniran made a surprise exit in May. The 20-year-old fans’ favourite has since signed for Maidenhead United and could face his former team-mates on November 21, with the sides due to lock horns again on January 30 at Cheriton Road.

“I got a call from them and I gave them my thoughts,” revealed Lokko, who played for the Magpies from 2023 until 2025. “He’s a promising young player.

“The people at Maidenhead, with their attention to detail, that’ll be critical for Joel. I wish him all the best.

“Obviously, we’ll see him next season and I’m definitely looking forward to those battles.”

Helping fill the defensive void left by the departures of Odeniran and Sam German, who has returned to parent club Bromley, are Jamie Fielding and Dan Quick.

Fielding played under boss Jay Saunders at Tonbridge while 23-year-old Quick arrives for a fee from Eastbourne Borough.

Lokko said: “The lads have settled really well, off the pitch.

"It’s early days on the pitch. There has been a couple of changes, with Joel and Sam German leaving. But myself and Smithy (Liam Smith) have an incredible relationship, on and off the pitch.

"Hopefully, Jamie and Dan - alongside the younger ones, like Dillon Simmons - allow us to perform together like we did last year.”

Other Invicta summer signings include midfielders Reggie Young, Harvey Kedwell and Alejandro Machado, plus forwards John Akinde and Aaron Cosgrave.
