'Foden should have passed' - Man City fans all say the same thing after thrilling Newcastle draw

Manchester City fans have all been saying the same thing after the Blues drew 3-3 against Newcastle United at St James' Park.

Ilkay Gundogan gave the Blues the lead inside five minutes with a calm close-range finish. Eddie Howe's side were not overawed by City's fast start and they were soon level thanks to Miguel Almiron's bundled goal.

The hosts went ahead before the break as Callum Wilson wrong-footed Ruben Dias before firing home past Ederson. Newcastle would soon be in dreamland in the second half when Kieran Trippier whipped in a ferocious free-kick to seemingly put the game out of sight.

However, City had other ideas and Erling Haaland grabbed his third goal for the club, firing home at the near post. The Blues would complete the comeback in the 64th minute as Bernardo Silva broke the offside trap to place the ball past Nick Pope.

There was still time for further drama with 15 minutes remaining as Trippier was initially sent off for a challenge on Kevin De Bruyne. But, after consulting with VAR, the referee downgraded the decision to a yellow as both teams had to settle for a point.

At full-time many City fans focused on Phil Foden's decision not to cross the ball for Haaland in the first half. Foden instead chose to go for goal with no avail.

Speaking at the full-time whistle, Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink mentioned Foden's decision. He said: "At 1-0 they’re cruising and when Foden gets that chance, he needs to pass to Haaland for 2-0.

"That is where the game changed and Newcastle got into the game." Taking to Twitter at the end of the match, City fans echoed Hasselbaink's sentiments.
