Nigeria’s Flying Eagles arrived Abuja on Thursday afternoon June 8 after crashing out in the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.

The team’s arrivals was announced on the Nigeria Football Federation’s Twitter handle.

The players, coaching crew and officials touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport via Ethiopian Airlines.

At the ongoing World Cup, the Flying Eagles reached the quarter-finals where they lost 1-0 to South Korea after extra-time.

They finished as runners-up in Group D that also had Brazil, Italy and Dominican Republic.

Wins against Italy (2-0) and Dominican Republic (2-1) was enough to secure round of 16 ticket.

In the first knockout stage game against hosts Argentina the Flying Eagles recorded a shock 2-0 win.

It was the first time ever the Flying Eagles will beat a South American team at the U-20 World Cup.
