Floyd Mayweather 8-punch defensive sequence vs Manny Pacquiao was incredible

Floyd Mayweather is arguably one of the greatest boxers to ever grace the sport and him dodging eight consecutive punches from Manny Pacquiao in 2015 proves it.

A bout which stemmed from a number of negotiations over a six-year period, they finally agreed to face each other at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on May 2, 2015.

In the opening few rounds, Mayweather established control brilliantly by jabbing well and controlling the ring space as he out-landed Pacquiao by quite a distance.

Pacquiao then landed some significant shots in the fourth to edge his way back into the fight after a difficult first three rounds.

Going into round five, Mayweather looked to seize control once again with an impressive number of counter right-hand punches in the last minute or so of the round, getting the tempo back to his liking.

Pacquiao came into the sixth looking to answer back, as he landed a left hand or two to try and make his way back into the contest.

Mayweather shook his head though to indicate that Pacquiao hadn’t done enough to score points in this round. He also used his jab to keep his distance, but Pacquiao may have taken this round.

In rounds seven, eight and nine, it was more a case of Mayweather controlling the pace and then still landing more punches than Pacquiao could muster.

Round 10 again saw Pacquiao struggle to get onto the front food, but Mayweather kept tagging him in the process with hooks and straights.
