Fleming laments tough Newlands pitch: 'We're a little down on confidence'

Joburg Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming admits his charges are "cold" and have lost their confidence after suffering back-to-back defeats in the Cape.

On Saturday, the Joburg Super Kings were restricted to 105-9 in their 20 overs as their batting order faltered yet again.

It resulted in back-to-back poor performances with the bat for Faf du Plessis' side, who were bundled out for 82 in their seven-wicket loss against the Paarl Royals on Friday.

"I was pretty easily scathing with our batting, but today was a tough track. We're a little down on confidence, we're a team that's playing its third game away from home," Fleming told reporters on Saturday.

"I'll answer when we've played a couple of games at home, but right now we're pretty cold. When things aren't quite going your way, you can get exposed pretty quickly."

Fleming also argued that it's the third time that the same track was used at Newlands, which could've impacted proceedings in Cape Town.

"We would've loved to bowl first and get a bit of confidence back. And that's what it often is, it's that confidence and belief," said the former New Zealand captain.

"We haven't had that much time together as a team to really believe in that, so we'll work hard on that. Resilience is going to be a keyword again.

"I will be a little more critical on the conditions. Yeah, it was a full house, but it's the third game in a row on that track. So come on, if you want to [see a] spectacle, then give us a chance." 

The Joburg Super Kings will play their first home game at a sell-out Wanderers when they face the Pretoria Capitals on Tuesday.
