Five of Hull FC's best ever home results against Leeds including that Gary Nolan try

Hull FC and Leeds is a fixture that rarely needs an introduction. It's not quite Hull and Rovers, but, and thanks to the Loiners' tendency over the years to sign the Black and Whites' best players, there's never been much love lost between the two outfits.

From cup semi-finals to the very last season at the clubs former Boulevard home, here Hull Live looks at some of Hull FC's best ever home results against Leeds.

The 1919-20 season saw Hull finish second in the Northern Union Championship, earning a semi-final home draw against Leeds. With Billy Batten and co at the peak of their powers, the Black and Whites, a formidable force in the game after the First World War, proved too strong for Leeds to handle, scoring three tries to none.

The scores followed for Alf Francis, Alf Grice, and J.E Wyburn, with Ned Rogers kicking one goal. The final was played against Huddersfield, with the legendary Billy Batten scoring the only try of the game. Hull also won the Championship the following season, beating Hull KR in the 1921 final - the only time they've ever won back-to-back league titles.

Hull may have lost the 1967 Yorkshire Cup final to Hull KR, but few Airlie Birds present at the Boulevard for the semi-final will ever forget the thumping they handed Leeds in what was the old ladies first ever game under the lights. After an outstanding playing career, the late great Johnny Whitleley had took the reigns as Hull's head coach, and his first task was to build a young, local, and hungry side by literally going out and signing players off the street. That's exactly what Whiteley did and some of those players went on to become household names.
