Five famous Hull KR trips to Headingley re-visited

Hull KR face two trips over the M62 to Leeds in the next fortnight, with next week's Challenge Cup semi-final against Huddersfield taking place at Leeds United's Elland Road, a stadium Rovers faced the Rhinos at back in 2018. Up first though is another test with the Rhinos tomorrow night as Rovers look to surpass a Super League era record and make it seven wins on the bounce.

The two teams have produced some classics over the years, so let's take a look back at five famous Hull KR trips to Headingley over the last decade.

Rovers came into this game on a three-match losing streak with the odds stacked against them to leave with the two points. A strong first-half performance from the visitors saw tries from the late Jordan Cox and a fantastic individual effort down the wing from now Keighley Cougars boss Rhys Lovegrove. Two tries from Kallum Watkins weren't enough for the heavy favourites as some resilient defending and four conversions, including two penalties from the boot of Michael Dobson secured a crucial and unexpected win for Craig Sandercock's men.

After victories over Bradford, Wigan and Catalans, Hull KR were drawn to face Tony Smith's Warrington side for a place at Wembley Stadium. Over 5000 Robins travelled over to Headingley and what a game they got. Ryan Atkins opened the scoring for the Wolves, but two quick-fire tries from Josh Mantellato and Ken Sio saw Rovers lead 12-6 at the interval. French international Kevin Larroyer bundled over from close range early in the second half, and when Mantellato slotted two penalties over the game looked done and dusted with a quarter of the game remaining.
