First ever ‘disco and house party’ to take place under Concorde at Manchester Airport

Plans for the first of a series of parties under Concorde are being put in place, the first set to happen next month.

The events will be called Club Concorde, and will happen in the shadow of the iconic plane, one of only three remaining in the UK.

According to the event organisers Fever, the parties will feature some of the world’s best known electronic DJs, playing ‘everything from sparky acid, Brazilian samba, itchy funk and the grooviest of house’.

The first party will happen on March 19, with a set from Mahogani Music’s Dan Shake.

He’ll be joined by founder of the Moovin’ festival and former Hacienda DJ Herbie Saccani, and the residents from Manchester party Surco.

The second event will then happen on April 9, with a set from Nottingham’s Crazy P, with La Discotheque’s Sharples in support, alongside the Surco residents.

Both parties will kick off at 5pm, winding up at 12am at the hangar at Manchester Airport where the Concorde is housed, now a conference centre.

The plane, a G-BOAC, which is nicknamed Alpha Charlie, was only the second Concorde to be delivered to British Airways, back in 1976.

It was in use for 27 years in all, right up until 2003 when it was decommissioned.

It flew both Princess Diana and the Queen when it was in service.
