'Total farce and joke'... More passengers hit by delays and long queues at Manchester Airport

More passengers were hit by delays and long queues at Manchester Airport this morning.

Travellers complained of 'massive' queues at security that 'took hours' to get through, causing people to 'miss flights'.

Queues at some of the check-in desks were also described as 'beyond a joke'.

One woman told the Manchester Evening Newsthat her flight to Gran Canaria with TUI departed more than two hours late due to delays getting the baggage on the plane.

Kathleen Moorland said she was still sat on the plane on the runway at 12.45pm - when it was meant to be departing at 10.10am this morning.

She added that there were delays getting through queues at the airport, despite arriving more than three hours before her flight.

'TUI and Manchester Airport, a total farce and joke', she said.

"All you want is an easy start to holiday, not the total chaos that there is."

At 11.25am this morning, Julia Teale tweeted: "@manairport. You really need to sort your staffing issues. Just witnessed people missing flights who have been here 3 hours but security was so disorganised it’s taking hours to get through.

"If it’s like this in March what will it be like in high season. #notenoughstaff."

Ian tweeted at 8.25am: "@manairport terminal 2 security is terrible. Massive queue and only 2 lanes open hour and a half to get through."

At 7am, Danny Smallman said in a tweet: "@TUIUK what is actually going on at @manairport. T2 this morning. The queues are beyond a joke for check in."

This comes after passengers were faced with ‘ridiculous' two-hour queues over the weekend.
