First Division round-up: Galway held to draw by Treaty

Cork City are effectively one win away from promotion after Galway United could only draw with Treaty United in their SSE Airtricity League First Division clash at Markets Field.

Galway boss John Caulfield had already conceded the title race but the westerners 2-1 win over Cork a fortnight ago had put any celebrations on hold and sparked faint hopes that the promotion battle might go down to the wire.

However, they fell behind early in Limerick, the prolific Enda Curran notching another goal to put Tommy Barrett's side in front. It remained that way until the closing 10 minutes, when Stephen Walsh converted from the penalty spot after substitute Wilson Waweru was brought down.

Galway pulled off a vaguely surreal comeback in the same fixture in April, but they couldn't muster a winner here, handing Cork an extra cushion of security heading into the final three games.

Athlone Town's recent uptick in form continued as they secured a share of the spoils with Longford Town in the midland derby at Athlone Town Stadium.

Both sides found the net in the opening 10 minutes, Adam Lennon putting the hosts in front before Jordan Adeyemo equalised for Longford soon after.

Thomas Oluwa restored Athlone's lead shortly before half-time, though their hopes of a fourth win in five games were scotched by Aaron Robinson's second half equaliser. Longford, long bound for the playoffs, sit four points ahead of Treaty with a game in hand.

In the south-east, Wexford FC dispatched Bray Wanderers 4-2, Conor Davis and Aaron Dobbs giving the hosts a two goal lead before the 15th minute mark.

Hugh Douglas pulled a goal back for Bray on the hour mark, Jack Doherty gave Wexford a cushion with a 74th minute strike. An 85th minute own goal gave Bray a glimmer,
