First Benaud-Qadir Test, day two snapshot

PAKISTAN V AUSTRALIA, FIRST TEST, DAY TWO:

Score: Pakistan 4-476 dec v Australia 0-5.

SUMMARY: Pakistan continued to do what they did on day one - bat and bat and bat some more. Imam-ul-Haq added 25 to his overnight score to reach 157, while Azhar Ali claimed his fourth century against Australia with 185 as part of a 205-run second-wicket stand between the pair. Australia struggled to take wickets on a pitch that offered little for the quicks, before Pakistan's eventual declaration at 4-476. That should have given the hosts 50 minutes with ball in hand, but just one over was possible before bad light stopped play.

MAN OF THE MOMENT: Azhar Ali. Pakistan's former captain just has a thing for batting against Australia. His century was his 19th overall and fourth against Australia. He was patient until he reached his hundred, before hitting harder as the innings went on and the hosts eyed a declaration. Another 15 runs would have seen him become just the ninth man to have two double-centuries against Australia.

KEY MOMENT: It didn't directly impact play, but the sight of Australia's players walking out to a second minute's silence in two days, each wearing two black armbands, showed just how hard the start to the Test had been. On Friday they were remembering Rod Marsh, but come Saturday it was Shane Warne.

STAT OF THE DAY: Pakistan's first innings marked just the 14th time in 2453 men's Tests that the first three partnerships for a team had all been of 100 or more.
