"Find himself the odd one out": Tom Collomosse drops claim on AVFC ace who "doesn't seem to fit"

Journalist Tom Collomosse thinks Danny Ings could find himself as the “odd one out” at Aston Villa under Steven Gerrard.

The 29-year-old was one of Villa’s big signings last summer after arriving from Southampton in a £25m deal, but he has failed to make much of an impact of late.

After a strong start to life as a Villa player, with the centre-forward netting two goals in his first two games, Ings has struggled recently.

He has registered just once in his last eight matches and has had to settle for the bench at times under Gerrard, failing to pick up a single minute in the exciting 3-3 draw with Leeds United on Wednesday night.

His new boss, who succeeded Dean Smith as manager back in November, has mainly been using one-striker systems, like in the game against Leeds, making it difficult at times for him to be slotted in.

Absolutely not. He could not have predicted Smith’s sacking. The Norwich City
