Final derby awaits for Stirling Albion as Wasps aim to sting Binos' League One survival bid

It’s crunch time in Stirling Albion’s battle for League One survival – and the Binos boss has challenged his troops to stand up for the fight.

Stirling host bitter rivals Alloa Athletic in their final derby dust-up of the season, with the Binos aware of the need to take advantage of their strong home form.

They have three of their last five games in front of the Forthbank crowd, beginning with the visit of Andy Graham’s stuttering Wasps tomorrow.

The contests between the Forth Valley rivals have been evenly contested across the season – Stirling enjoying the bragging rights with a pair of wins in the early weeks of the campaign, but Alloa have won the last two meetings.

That includes the sides’ first match up at Forthbank in early November, when one of Stirling’s poorest displays of the season saw them pushed aside in a 2-0 defeat to goals in either half by Steven Buchanan and Ally Roy.

Meanwhile, the previous meeting on league business at the Indodrill in February also saw Alloa come out on top in a narrow contests courtesy of Taylor Steven’s fantastic second-half strike.

It’s set to be a crackling atmosphere for the latest match between the old adversaries – with the Wasps also having business of their own to contend to at the other end of the table in their effort to stay in the top four.

They currently sit third after a strong run of form since the New Year, but have gone winless in their last three matches, meaning that they are only two points clear of the chasing Cove Rangers and Montrose.

Stirling’s own struggles have slipped them to eighth and just three points clear of a flying Annan side below them, but a win on Saturday would allow the opportunity to make up serious ground above them.
