FIFA agent Drew Uyi praises NFF for organising friendlies for Super Eagles

FIFA agent Drew Uyi has praised the NFF, led by Gusau, for organising two international friendlies for the Super Eagles in Portugal.

The Super Eagles recently confronted Saudi Arabia in a friendly match ahead of next month’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Faro. The game ended 2-2.

And in another friendly game in the same location, the Super Eagles, who are preparing for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to start next January in Ivory Coast, defeated the Mambas of Mozambique 3-2.

Drew Uyi, a distinguished FIFA-licensed football agent, traveled from his base in London to Portugal to witness the Super Eagles in action against Saudi Arabia. In his evaluation, he underlined the importance of the NFF, led by Gusau, ensuring the Super Eagles remained active during the FIFA international window for national teams.

The Super Eagles were held to a 2-2 draw by Saudi Arabia.

Speaking in an interview with reporters, Drew Uyi, who met Gusau on the sidelines of the match, expressed optimism that the friendlies will boost the Super Eagles ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in November, as well as the 2023 AFCON tournament, in the opening month of next year.

“The friendlies have undoubtedly been instrumental in helping the players harmonize their playing styles before the AFCON and ultimately contributing to the Super Eagles’ readiness for their future engagements on the international stage,” Uyi said.

“Playing those two friendlies will prepare the Super Eagles for the bigger challenges ahead next month and at the AFCON tournament,” he added. “The NFF board, under Gusau’s leadership, did well to organise these games, and the coaches were able to see how well the players are gelling
