Charles Leclerc said that the F1-75 struggled during FP2 in Spain when on the long run, so Ferrari must come up with solution.

On the face of it, Ferrari appeared to be flying high on the opening day of track action at the Spanish Grand Prix, Leclerc topping both FP1 and FP2.

The flying laps were not where Leclerc’s concerns lay though. He was disappointed with tyre performance on the race simulation.

Rivals Red Bull have enjoyed a clear advantage over Ferrari when it comes to preserving the tyres at the last two rounds, this proving crucial last time out at the Miami Grand Prix, where Max Verstappen passed the struggling Leclerc early to take the lead, going on to win the race.

“There is a lot of work to do,” Leclerc told Sky Italia.

“We proved to be very fast on the qualifying lap, but on the race pace for us it was very difficult. I’m not worried but we need to find the solution and definitely do better.

“The tyres performed well on a single qualifying lap, then something went wrong in the second free practice. We have to find the solution tonight.”

Ferrari were one of many teams to bring an upgrade package to the Spanish Grand Prix, Leclerc explaining that while Ferrari want to make the F1-75 faster in a straight line with these modifications, they also worked to address their cornering performance, as Red Bull were surprisingly stronger in the very slow sections in Miami.
