Fearne Cotton wished 'good luck' as she gives inspiring career update on her 'most fun' project yet

Fearne Cotton was wished good luck by fans as she gave an exciting and very candid update on her latest career venture.

The broadcaster, who previously presented on BBC Radio, revealed that she has been working on her debut fiction novel for the past year and a half, which is now in its 'polishing' stages. Fearne has already released eight self-help books, two children's books, and four books on healthy eating, but this will be her first venture into creative writing.

It was announced earlier this year that Fearne would be releasing her debut novel with a two-book deal via Penguin Michael Joseph. Scripted will be released in June 2024, publishing in hardback, e-book and audio.

In an update to her 3.8 million Instagram followers, Fearne posted a selfie of herself clutching a notebook gifted by singer Ellie Goulding. Captioning the post, she explained: "I've been working on my debut fiction for the last 18 months and am at the polishing stage.

"I'm forensically going through the manuscript on my laptop, making notes in my notepad ( @elliegoulding gave me this one) and am making sure everything adds up and is as good as it can be. I'm exhilarated writing it. It's the most fun I've ever had in my working life but it's also terrifying."

She added that, after reading a lot of books and book reviews, the thought of critics or online forums not liking her story makes her want to vomit. She continued: "Yet this is the excitement and risk of creativity. If you write, draw, paint, sketch, stitch, act, sing, create, curate or otherwise professionally or for fun, this is the treacherous path we have to take."
