Faversham Town manager Steve Watt on signing of striker Ibrahim Olutade ahead of club’s return to pre-season training this weekend
Boss Steve Watt has highlighted what he likes most about Faversham Town’s new striker.
Ibrahim Olutade, who turns 28 next month, became the latest summer signing in the Lilywhites’ star-studded squad as they aim to earn promotion to the Isthmian Premier.
Olutade has netted 50 goals for Margate across the last two seasons and will compete alongside Tashi-Jay Kwayie and Eniye Amgbaduba as Town’s forward options.
“He has a great work-rate,” said Watt. “The thing I most like about him is he is always in the right place at the right time.
“He’s that typical ‘Fox in the Box’. He will bring great athleticism and, generally, will bring something different to us up front.
“Eniye is big and powerful, Tashi has good link-up play and is a good finisher, whereas Ibzs is more on the shoulder. Getting him in should, hopefully, add the goals we were looking for.
“Tashi got 32 last year [in all competitions] - and the next highest was nine. We need to support Tashi better than that.
"Eniye will be like a new signing, coming back from injury, and we can now add Ibzs’ goals.
“Kane Haysman has also scored more than 30 goals from midfield in the last two seasons, we’ve players like Jack Evans in the team, and we’re looking for our defenders to score more from set-pieces.
“Something we wanted to add was goals and I think we have done that.
"Recruitment couldn’t have gone much better.”
Prior to his two-year stay in Thanet, Olutade played for Maidstone, Tonbridge and Leatherhead.
Watt said: “It’s an area we thought we needed an extra body in, up front.
“We have already got Tashi and Eniye - two very good strikers - but, to get promoted, I think you need at least three in the building.
