Faversham Town boss Tommy Warrilow reacts to 2-1 Isthmian South East success at Sheppey United
Manager Tommy Warrilow insists 10-man Faversham were worthy winners at Sheppey on Saturday.
The Lilywhites ended 2025 in style as they were 2-1 Isthmian South East victors at Holm Park - despite playing more than an hour with 10 men after midfielder Harrison Pont’s red card.
Town had already gone in front through another goal by Tashi-Jay Kwayie and, while Kevin Watson’s men equalised as defender Lex Allan struck late on, in-form midfielder Tommie Fagg went straight down the other end to bag a clinching injury-time goal.
“It’s a funny one,” Warrilow reflected. “Possession-wise, we knew we would be under it once we went down to 10 men.
“I thought we started the game really well but it’s the same old problem, really, where we should have been more than 1-0 up even before the red card.
“Ironically enough, even with 10 men, I thought we created the better chances. The most important thing was to get three points.
“Fair play to the lads, letting a goal in that late, they could have felt sorry for themselves - but we went to the other end and got what I, honestly, think was a worthy winner. Chance-wise, I still think we had the better chances.
“We have got three points and this is a tough place to come.”
Former Sittingbourne and Dover man Pont was dismissed by referee Harry Phillips as he brought down a home midfielder around 25 yards out to end a counter-attack in the 25th minute.
On that call, Warrilow said: “I think he was too quick.
“If it was for violent conduct, it wasn’t.
“He was quite a way out and we had the two full-backs coming round. I know some of their players’ dads and even they said to me ‘The red card was a bit harsh.’.
