'Fantastic contributions': India's cricket fraternity hails fifth U-19 World Cup title

ICC U-19 World Cup title after defeating England in the summit clash at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium in Antigua on Saturday, and the country's cricket fratenity queued up on Sunday morning to congratulate the 'Boys in Blue'. England captain Tom Prest won the toss and chose to bat first to avoid scoreboard pressure of a run-chase. But India did it in style: bowl out the opposition for a low total of 189 in 44.5 overs to avoid that pressure. To cap a dominating performance, wicketkeeper Dinesh Bana finished the chase of 190 with two sixes and 14 balls to spare in a four-wicket win. Few of the squad members, including Shaik Rasheed and Yash Dhull, had tested positive for Covid-19 midway through the tournament, but whoever stepped in, performed their roles perfectly and India did not lose a single game in the tournament.

Former India opener Virender Sehwag praised the performance of the team, hailing "fantastic contributions from everyone".

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also tweeted and wrote, "A fantastic performance througout in the #U19CWC 2022 Congratulations #BoysinBlue."

Former batter Yuvraj Singh also hailed bowlers Ravi Kumar and Raj Bajwa for the 'amazing spells' during the summit clash.

The ICC wished India 'Good Mornin' in style.
