Family slam 'appalling' BA after 'trip of a lifetime' turns sour

A family say they were left feeling 'hopeless' and 'stressed' after British Airways failed to load their bags onto their flight.

The Sheron family flew from Chicago to Manchester via Heathrow - but their luggage didn't make the final leg of the journey with them. They said they had been left with 'emotional stress' after spending over a week on the phone in an effort to locate their posessions.

Mum Jill, 53, said they landed back at Heathrow on Wednesday, September 6 and boarded a second flight onto Manchester "in the knowledge our bags would be loaded on", reports the Liverpool Echo.

But when the family arrived at Manchester Airport, an announcement was made over the public speaker telling them their suitcases were still at Heathrow. The family filed their details with British Airways who said the cases would be delivered by courier to their Widnes home within 24-48 hours.

But Jill said despite spending hours each day on the phone for over a week trying to find out when the bags would be delivered, they finally arrived this morning, Thursday, September 14. Jill said she and her family had undergone "significant emotional stress" and added the airline's baggage delivery system was "incompetent".

British Airways told the ECHO the Sheron family's bags missed the connection, but claimed a courier attempted to deliver the bags earlier this week but no one was home. A spokesperson added: "We’re sorry for the delay in reuniting our customers with their bags."
