Family of mum and baby who died in Spanish hospital 'deserve answers'

The family of a pregnant mum who died alongside her baby at a Spanish clinic deserve answers to 'help them understand how and why'.

Kelsey Brown, 34, began suffering 'horrendous pain' and lost consciousness shortly after going into labour at Hospital Ceram in Marbella. The hairdresser had registered as a patient at the private facility 'to ensure the best treatment for her and her unborn child' when she moved to Spain from Liverpool in December 2020.

Her family believed her pregnancy was going well - but when Kelsey went into labour on July 20, 2021, a heart monitor was unable to detect the baby's heartbeat. At 1.30pm, Kelsey began losing blood and was in 'horrendous pain', an inquest into her death heard yesterday (February 26).
