Falkirk vs Inverness CT LIVE score and goal updates from the Scottish Cup semi final at Hampden

Falkirk and Inverness Caley Thistle meet in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup today eight years after competing in the showpiece at the national stadium.

It's not the Hampden meeting many expected but the lower league sides have earned their day in the spotlight once again, and the Bairns could grab a bit of revenge for defeat on that day. The Highlanders came out on top thanks to goals from Marley Watkins and a late strike from James Vincent to give Caley their first taste of Scottish Cup silverware.

Billy Dodds' side go into the match as favourites and seven games unbeaten in the Championship, and chasing promotion back to the Scottish Premiership via the play-offs. John McGlynn's Falkirk are the first third-tier outfit to reach semi-finals since Rangers in 2014.

The Bairns last lifted the old trophy in 1957 when they defeated Kilmarnock 2-1 in a replay at Hampden. Since then they have lost three finals, the most recent being the 2-1 2015 defeat to Inverness. Falkirk overcame Ayr United in the quarter-final, while Inverness defeated Derek McInnes' Kilmarnock 2-1 in the Highland capital last month.

The winner of today's semi-final will have the task of getting past either Celtic or Rangers who face-off in the south side of Glasgow tomorrow afternoon.

When it comes to sibling rivalry, Stephen McGinn admits he’s not got a leg to stand on.

There aren’t many families that boast two Championship winners medals in the clan collection, as the Falkirk skipper has. The trouble is that when those honours are held up to what his little brothers have been up to, it doesn’t really measure up.
