FAI's four-year sponsor search ends as Sky expands deal to men's team

The FAI has announced that Sky will become the new sponsor of the Republic of Ireland men's team, while the already existing deal with the women’s side is to be extended.

The association has been without a primary sponsor for the men’s side since mobile network operator Three confirmed in December 2019 it would not be renewing on a deal that began in 2010.

The new deal will see Sky sponsor both teams until the end of 2028, with the broadcaster supporting both squads through four major tournament campaigns – the 2025 Women's European Championships, the 2026 World Cup campaign, the 2027 Women’s World Cup campaign and 2028 European Championships.

No financial details have been announced. Three's last deal, renewed in 2015, was worth €8.9m.

FAI CEO Jonathan Hill welcomed the news this morning.

"Sky has been a fantastic partner to the FAI for a number of years," he said.

"Their groundbreaking partnership with our women’s national team has been a great success and they have helped to drive phenomenal growth in women and girl’s football in Ireland."

Sky Ireland CEO JD Buckley said the huge progress made since getting onboard with the FAI was key to the decision.

"Over the past two and a half years, we have enjoyed a fantastic partnership with our women's national team," he said.

"We are thrilled and proud to announce the extension of that partnership and our brand-new primary partnership with the men’s national team."
