FAI announces voluntary redundancy programme

The Football Association of Ireland has announced a voluntary redundancy programme.

It has not ruled out the possibility of following with compulsory redundancies.

The FAI announced this measure to staff this morning, and to the public in a press statement. The statement does not offer much in the way of details.

It says the restructure will begin in the coming days, first up is the voluntary redundancy programme.

After that, the FAI will look at re-deployments before confirming how many staff may be the subject of a compulsory redundancy programme.

The organisation's aims are to "modernise how irish football is delivered", it says to align with its future objectives, to "accelerate internal culture change and introduce specialist skillsets".

Its final aim on this shortlist is to deliver increased financial sustainability.

The FAI also admits it doesn't have the framework or specific skillsets required to implement vital strategies, and says it "must" carry out this process to ensure Irish football can compete on all levels into the future.
