Facundo Pellistri sends message after quickfire goal set-up in Manchester United win vs Real Betis

Facundo Pellistri has reacted on social media following his electrifying cameo against Real Betis.

Manchester United had a pivotal positive reaction to the 7-0 shellacking they suffered in Liverpool on Sunday by defeating the Spanish side 4-1 in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16. Marcus Rashford opened the scoring before Ayoze Perez drew things level but a stunning Antony striker, powerful Bruno Fernandes header and long-awaited Old Trafford goal for Wout Weghorst sealed the game and perhaps even the tie.

It was the fourth strike and the work in setting it up by Pellistri that has got a lot of fans talking. Erik ten Hag introduced the winger in the 82nd minute and mere seconds later he was picked out by Fernandes at a corner and put on the afterburners to race past three defenders before pulling the ball back into a dangerous area.

Scott McTominay's initial effort was saved but Weghorst was on hand to stick home the loose ball. Taking to Twitter after the match, Pellistri said: "This is how we do it! Come on Manchester United!" alongside several photos of him in action.

It was only Pellistri's fifth appearance for United and he is still yet to start a match despite joining the club back in 2020. Ten Hag has been the first manager to give the Uruguayan a chance and he has continued to impress in his limited minutes on the pitch.

Though the 21-year-old won't be able to lay claim to the assist for Weghorst's goal he certainly created it and there are growing calls for him to get more opportunities. "I don’t know," Owen Hargreaves replied on BT Sport when asked why he hasn’t had more minutes. "I was amazed at how quick he was!
