Facundo Pellistri delivers Manchester United ultimatum as future plans mapped out

Young winger Facundo Pellistri has admitted he may have to look for another club for next season if Manchester United do not offer him enough time on the pitch.

By this summer, the 20-year-old will have spent 18 months out on loan at Spanish side Alavez, who are bottom of La Liga. He has only made six starts in his 23 appearances so far this season and is yet to record a goal or an assist in the 35 games he’s played overall since his temporary stay began in January 2021.

Pellistri’s last La Liga start came in December and he’s failed to see out a whole 90 minutes all campaign. As a result, he’s since been benched for the last 16 games he’s been available for.

However, he was handed his Uruguay senior debut in January and provided two assists in their 4-1 World Cup qualification win over Venezuela the following month. United paid £7m to homeland club Penarol for Pellistri in October 2020.

The attacker is yet to make a senior appearance for the first team and has now hinted that another move away from Old Trafford, either on loan or permanently, may be on the cards if he is not offered many minutes. Speaking candidly to Sport890, he said: “Sometimes one gets frustrated for not having minutes, I try to support myself in my family.

“When the season ends with Alaves I have to go back to Manchester, do the pre-season and then see what I do. The best thing for me would be to find a team that allows me to have as many minutes as possible.

“Today the priority that I give to my future is to have minutes - if it is in Manchester it would be a dream, otherwise I will have to look for another team to achieve that.” Pellistri is
