Fabrizio Romano drops huge Spurs transfer claim which will leave supporters devastated - opinion

Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update regarding Tottenham Hotspur’s reported transfer interest in Memphis Depay.

Speaking on the Here We Go podcast (via This is Futbol), the transfer insider claimed that, despite recent reports suggesting that Spurs had made an early move for the Barcelona centre-forward ahead of a potential move in the summer transfer window, the Premier League side have in fact not submitted an offer for the 28-year-old, nor are the club in discussions with Barca concerning a deal for the Netherlands international.

Regarding Spurs’ reported interest in Depay, Romano said: “From what I’m told, Tottenham are not negotiating for Depay. And on Tottenham’s side, I’m told they made no bid for Memphis Depay. So let’s see what happens with Barcelona if they will be open to let him go, but, as of now, Tottenham are not working to sign Depay.”

Considering just how impressive Depay has been for Barcelona since his move to Camp Nou last summer, the news that Tottenham are not believed to be in discussions regarding a summer deal for the forward is sure to have left the club’s fanbase devastated.
