Fabio Vieira: Arsenal man impressed fans on debut vs Man Utd

Arsenal fans got their first glimpse of Fabio Vieira in a first-team match last Sunday afternoon.

The Portuguese starlet played the final 15 minutes against Manchester United after replacing fellow summer arrival Oleksandr Zinchenko.

While Vieira was unable to prevent Arsenal from losing 3-1 to their bitter rivals at Old Trafford, the 22-year-old certainly caught the eye during his cameo.

The midfielder – who’s been likened to Manchester City‘s Bernardo Silva – produced some lovely touches and came agonisingly close to pulling off one of the assists of the season so far.

Vieira’s beautiful left-footed pass into the box looked as if it was going to land right on Gabriel Jesus’ boot, but Scott McTominay was on hand to clear the ball at the very last second.

Sure, it wasn’t a bona fide masterclass from Arsenal’s £34 million signing from FC Porto, which couldn’t have been expected from anyone given the circumstances.

But it was a cameo that showed a huge amount of promise – and one that Mikel Arteta will surely have enjoyed to some degree.
