Fabio Carvalho will no doubt have wanted to wake up on the morning of February 1st as a Liverpool player.

With Jurgen Klopp’s side challenging for European Cups and Premier League titles, having been crowned champions of England, Europe and the world in recent years, such a fact should be no surprise.

Out of contract with Fulham in the summer, the Reds’ interest in his services was well-documented, yet it was still a surprise to see them hurtle into action and make their move in the final hours of the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old made it clear he wanted to move to Anfield as Liverpool belatedly agreed a deal with the Cottagers, only for his loan return to Craven Cottage to not be completed before Monday’s 11pm deadline.

Or is it? While the move might not have been completed in January, the Reds are seemingly still confident they can land the England youth international in the summer when his deal expires.
