The Reds looked to have secured the deal to sign Carvalho at the end of the January transfer window, but the move fell through on deadline day due to time running out. Carvalho stayed at Fulham and helped them secure the Championship title.

In 35 matches for Fulham this season, the youngster has 10 goal to his name with eight assists - it is clear to see why Jurgen Klopp was so keen on securing the signing Carvalho as plenty of other clubs were interested in his services.

Carvalho, who scored Fulham's third goal in their seven goal rout over play-off hopefuls Luton, is expected to move to Liverpool for an initial £5 million with £2 million coming in add-ons.

With Carvalho's contract running out in the summer, the Reds had to move fast to secure their man as many other clubs were circling with prospective offers for the talented young star.

After seeing the emergence of Harvey Elliott at Anfield, Carvalho's progress will certainly be watched with a keen eye as a lot is expected of the youngster.
