Fabio Carvalho's exciting highlights v Palace have got Liverpool fans comparing him to Coutinho

Liverpool picked up their first win in 2022/23 pre-season on Friday afternoon.

The Reds were beaten 4-0 by Manchester United a few days prior, but returned to winning ways against Crystal Palace.

Goals from Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah secured a 2-0 victory for Jurgen Klopp’s side at the Singapore National Stadium.

There were a significant number of positives for Liverpool to take from the pre-season outing, one of the biggest being the performance of Fabio Carvalho.

The 19-year-old sensation completed a £5 million move to Merseyside from Fulham this summer after enjoying a breakthrough campaign in 2021/22.

In 36 Championship games last season, Carvalho scored 10 goals and assisted a further eight, earning himself a place in the division’s PFA Team of the Year.

Yeah, the Portugal Under-21 international is a real talent and he made that clear for all to see against Palace.

After replacing the equally impressive Harvey Elliott at half-time, Carvalho grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and showed exactly why Klopp was so eager to sign him up.

The teenage sensation’s touch throughout his cameo was magnificent and he looked as sharp as anyone on the pitch when it came to passing.

Carvalho was just inches away from his first Liverpool goal as well, but his curling effort after some excellent build-up play was saved brilliantly by Vicente Guaita.

His exciting individual highlights – which can be viewed below – are even earning him comparisons with prime Philippe Coutinho.

The kid looks a special, special talent. In Carvalho and Elliott, Liverpool have two of the brightest prospects in world football and we expect them to both get a lot of first-team minutes in 2022/23.
