Fabinho makes Liverpool squad claim as Gini Wijnaldum's PSG struggles continue

Fabinho believes the current Liverpool squad could be the best he has played in during his time at Anfield.

The Brazilian joined the Reds from AS Monaco just days after Jurgen Klopp's side's Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in 2018, helping the club go one better to be crowned European champions in his first season in England.

Following that up with Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup and European Super Cup glory in 2019/20, the midfielder added to his trophy haul last month when scoring in the shootout in Liverpool's League Cup win over Chelsea.

With the Reds now chasing an unprecedented quadruple, Fabinho believes Klopp's squad is better than when he arrived at the club despite the departure of a number of key players, including Gini Wijnaldum, who continues to make headlines in France after struggling to find his feet with PSG despite huge success at Anfield.

"Yes (it's stronger), maybe yes because we have more time playing together," the 28-year-old told reporters ahead of facing Inter Milan.

"We know each other. Of course we lose some players, some important players. Gini Wijnaldum, he was a really important player who won the Champions League and the Premier League with us.

"We lost other important players as well - Shaqiri, Lovren - but I think when you play four or five years together, that's normal.

"You play better and some things are more automatic. Because of the time playing together and the time with the manager and the technical staff makes us better."

Why Liverpool have indeed lost some key players who helped them win the Champions League and Premier League, the Reds have still managed to strengthen their squad with January signing Luis Diaz hitting the ground running in recent weeks.
