FA Vase round-up as Faversham Town, Whitstable Town, Lordswood, Lydd Town, Bearsted and Hollands & Blair among those progressing to second qualifying round

Defender Ben Gorham got the only goal as Faversham edged out Southern Counties East League Premier Division rivals Fisher 1-0 in the first qualifying round on Saturday.

Hat-trick hero Harvey Smith led the way for Whitstable in their 4-1 victory at Corinthian-Casuals.

Josh Oliver had got Jamie Coyle’s team level on 55 minutes before striker Smith decided the tie with three goals inside 13 minutes towards the death.

Lordswood saw off hosts Banstead Athletic 4-2.

Elliott Duncan got Nicky Southall’s side level after the hosts had gone ahead, Jarred Trespaderne making it 2-1 on 80 minutes, only for Banstead to level it up again five minutes later.

But substitute Quadri Green converted two minutes from time and then wrapped things up in injury time.

Their Medway rivals, Hollands & Blair, also progressed, winning 3-0 at home against AFC Varndenians.

Taylor Fisher gave them the lead in the 17th minute and two second-half goals by vastly-experienced forward Dean Grant made sure of the result.

Bearsted proved too strong for Bexhill United as they beat them 5-2 at home.

An eventful first period left them 3-2 up, Connor French, Jesse Darko and Jason Banton all on target.

After the break, Darko promptly added a second and William Johnson-Cole made sure shortly after the hour mark.

Lydd beat hosts Bridon Ropes 3-0 through goals by Luke Burdon and Sam Adams after a first-half own goal.

Kennington were 2-0 FA Vase victors at home to Loxwood.

Their goals came from midfielder Bradley Walledge and forward Fin Dent - both on dual registration from Isthmian Premier Folkestone - in the space of two first-half minutes.

Early Southern Counties East Premier Division leaders VCD recovered well after Westside’s first-minute goal to earn a 4-1 win.
