FA Vase Fourth Round: Defeats for Deal Town at Corsham Town and Erith Town at Bridgwater United

There was disappointment for the two remaining Southern Counties East clubs in FA Vase Fourth-Round action.

Deal lost 1-0 at Corsham, with Rob Hobbs scoring the only goal on the stroke of half-time to defeat Steve King’s side. Corsham finished the match with 10 men but Deal were unable to find an equaliser.

Erith Town, meanwhile, lost 4-1 on penalties at Bridgwater United following a goalless draw in 90 minutes.

In Premier Division action, runaway leaders Erith & Belvedere thrashed K Sports 5-1 at home.

Ryan Palmer’s early opener was cancelled out by Richard Jimoh before half-time as the sides went in level.

The Deres took charge after the break, with Nathan Palmer, Bradley Ryan and Danny Lear’s double moving them clear.

Penalties from Louie Clarke and Yassin Fares saw second-placed Rusthall win 2-0 at Phoenix to record a first victory in three games.

Whitstable moved up to third thanks to an own goal and a last-minute clincher from Dean Smith in a 2-0 win over Tunbridge Wells.

Also climbing are Stansfeld, who went fourth courtesy of Dan Parkinson’s early penalty and goals from Ollie Milton and Ryan Fowler as struggling Canterbury were beaten 3-0.

Glebe slipped to sixth after losing a one-goal lead at home to Hollands & Blair.

Jamie Philpot put the hosts on course for a third straight win but Danny Walder levelled on the hour and Harry Brown scored a last-minute penalty.

Ollie Freeman’s eighth-minute goal was enough to lift Bearsted out of the relegation zone, with Kevin Stevens’ side 1-0 winners over Punjab United.

They climb out at the expense of Welling Town, who lost 4-2 at home to Holmesdale.

Ashley Sains gave Town the perfect start but Luke Adams’ double and goals from Manny Shoderu and James Ayetine did the job
