FA Cup Final: Mason Mount & Erin Cuthbert joke Chelsea will share open-top bus
A huge weekend lies in wait for Chelsea, with both teams in FA Cup final action at Wembley.
Emma Hayes’ side are the current holders of the trophy, and are aiming to win the double, having lifted the Women’s Super League title for the third successive time last Sunday.
Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel’s team lost to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final earlier this year and have one last chance to claim some silverware this season.
For the first time ever, both the men’s and women’s finals will be played across the same weekend and Chelsea stars Mason Mount and Erin Cuthbert are relishing the occasion.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Mount and Cuthbert opened up on what it felt like to be playing in a dometic cup final.
“I’m buzzing,” Mount stressed. “We obviously know the history of playing in a final against Liverpool this season and it didn’t go our way. So now is an opportunity to right that wrong and we’re ready for it.
“I’ve spoken a lot about how much it would mean to me to win a domestic trophy, so now is an opportunity to really achieve it and go for it.
“To win two FA Youth Cups and then go on to lose two finals with the first team is heartbreaking, so hopefully it’s third time lucky.”
Meanwhile, Cuthbert emphasised that Chelsea Women’s clash with City is going to be far from easy. The Blues may well be defending champions, but the Citizens beat them in the Continental Cup earlier this season.
“I think everyone has seen the run Man City has been on,” Cuthbert said. “They had a horrible start to the league and could never claw that back, but they’re on an incredible run of form.
“They beat us in the Continental Cup final only a couple of months ago, so we’re under no illusions that it’s going to be a really tough game and
