FA Cup fifth round draw ball numbers confirmed as Man City keep treble hopes alive

Manchester City booked their place in the fifth-round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon with a comfortable 4-1 win over Championship table-toppers Fulham at the Etihad Stadium.

Goals from Riyad Mahrez (2), Ilkay Gundogan and John Stones were more than enough to seal City's passage to the next stage of the competition, despite being forced to come from behind following Fabio Carvalho's early opener for the visitors.

City's progression to round-five has seen them join the likes of Chelsea and Everton in the hat, whilst the likes of Liverpool and Leicester City will be hoping to join them in round-five when they face Championship opposition on Sunday.

Manchester United, meanwhile, will not be in the hat for the fifth-round draw after losing 8-7 on penalties to Middlesbrough on Friday evening.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed from the spot in normal time - with Jadon Sancho and Matt Crooks scoring, before a penalty shoot-out settled the contest.

There was a major hint of handball controversy for that Middlesbrough equaliser, but they needed no such fortune from 12 yards as Anthony Elanga blazed the decisive kick over.

Several ties involving Premier League clubs are still to come, including Tottenham Hotspur's meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion this evening. The fourth-round will be brought to a conclusion on Sunday afternoon when Bournemouth meet non-league Boreham Wood at the Vitality Stadium.

By that time, though, clubs will have already discovered their would-be opponents.

According to the FA website, the draw for the fifth round of the competition will be made on Sunday, February 6 before the 12pm kick-off between Liverpool and Cardiff City.

That match and the draw will be screened live on ITV and via the ITV Hub.
