FA Cup 3rd round draw in full including Arsenal v Man Utd as Swansea City and Cardiff City learn opponents

Swansea City are set to take on their former manager Russell Martin's Southampton in the third-round of the FA Cup, while Arsenal v Man Utd was the draw of the round.

Cardiff City also learned of their opponents and a hefty trip up north to Sheffield United awaits them in the new year.

Southampton and Swansea were the first two names out of the hat and that promises to be an intriguing affair on the south coast. Martin's exit from the Swans was hardly without acrimony, with Swansea last month settling their legal dispute with their former manager over an alleged breach of contract.

Martin steered Southampton to promotion to the Premier League last year, but Swansea will no doubt want to get one over on them in the cup competition. Swansea were knocked out in the fourth round last year by Bournemouth.

It's an all-Championship draw for Cardiff, who will have to travel to Bramall Lane for their third-round clash. It's the worst of both worlds, really, a long trip against good opponents in the same league, but nevertheless it will represent an opportunity for them to progress if their form picks up in the next month.

Last term, Erol Bulut's Cardiff were battered 4-0 by Sheffield Wednesday in the third round. They will hope to fare better in the steel city this time around.

The current schedule has the third-round ties for the FA Cup set to be played around Saturday, January 11.
