FA confirm England won't play Russia as Man United and Man City players among those to be affected

The FA has announced that England will not face Russia in any international fixtures after the country invaded Ukraine this week.

Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic have already announced that they would not face the Russian national team in an act of solidarity with Ukraine.

On Sunday evening, England followed suit as they announced they would not be facing them for the foreseeable future.

In a statement, the FA said: "Out of solidarity with the Ukraine and to wholeheartedly condemn the atrocities being committed by the Russian leadership, the FA can confirm that we won't play against Russia in any international fixtures for the foreseeable future.

"This includes any potential match at any level of senior, age group or para football."

A number of Manchester United and Manchester City players represent the English national team including Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford, Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling.

Before their fixtures on Saturday, both United and City showed solidarity with Ukraine.
