F1 22: EA and Codemasters identify straightline bug

Finally, some good news for F1 22 fans, as EA reports that they have identified the problem that has plagued the game since its release and is to blame for the A.I.’s ridiculous speed on straights.

EA earlier today published Patch 1.07, which included a number of tweaks, new tracks, and most importantly, progress on the most vexing problem with F1 22 thus far: ridiculous A.I. straight-line speed.

The general remedy is not present in today’s patch since the issue has been identified but not yet fixed.

Players have reported that the issue has diminished on tracks like Miami and Baku, though not completely gone, so we will have to wait for the next patch to permanently fix it.

However, EA has made changes to the throttle application which should help neutralize AI and player car performance for the moment.

The inclusion of the Portimão in the track choices is another noteworthy modification. Following the discovery of game data, there were rumors that further songs will be included as DLC; however, EA has already made Portimão available for free, and the China track is due to follow.

Whether this gift was intended as an apology from EA and Codemasters for the game’s challenging first month or was always intended to be given away for free, it is certain that fans will appreciate the pleasant surprise.

Even after the first season, Portimão is still absent from Career mode but has been added to Time Trial, Grand Prix, and multiplayer modes. The community is pushing for it to be included to Career as well, so if that narrative develops traction, we’ll keep you updated.
