ExWHUemployee: West Ham could announce some big news on 'outstanding' player soon

Rush Green source ExWHUemployee has shared the latest contract news concerning West Ham United goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

There has been heavy debate amongst fans this season as to who should be the Irons’ first-choice keeper. These arguments have been torn between 36-year-old Fabianski and Paris Saint-Germain loanee Alphonse Areola.

It appears that David Moyes has been experiencing the same dilemma, given that Fabianski has played every Premier League game bar one this season, whereas Areola has been fielded in the Europa League.

However, the former Poland international’s contract is set to expire in the summer, throwing the number one position into the air.

Club insider ExWHUemployee has shared an update on Fabianski’s contract situation. In an interview for his site The West Ham Way, he claimed:

“Yes well I can say that the extension to Fabianski’s deal is agreed in principle, so unless there is a dramatic change which is unlikely, then that should be confirmed by the club very soon. With regards to the summer, we will definitely be in the market for a new keeper, as Randolph will be leaving and the same possibly for David Martin, although he could still be kept on.

“We could look also to extend Areola’s loan agreement but we also do hold a firm interest in Sam Johnstone. As of yet no final decision has been made.”

Demonstrated by the 310 appearances held to his name, Fabianski would be a great servant to have at any top-flight club, given his wealth of experience in the Premier League.

Even if he doesn’t play next season, the 36-year-old could provide the upcoming keepers with some great advice and could help Areola (or Johnstone) with the transition into become the side’s number one.
