Explained: Matty Cash goal celebration after scoring for Aston Villa at Brighton

Matty Cash sent a clear 'stay strong' message to his Polish teammate Tomasz Kedziora, who is currently in Kiev with his family.

The Aston Villa right back fired a low driven shot which found the back of the net to give Steven Gerrard's side the lead in the 17th minute and took his top off to deliver a message to his Polish teammate shortly after.

The message read: "Tomasz Kedziora and family, stay strong bro" after it was discovered the player is currently in Kiev with his family during the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

It also comes after it was announced the Polish national side would be boycotting their World Cup play off against Russia.

PZPN president Cezary Kulesza stated this regarding the issue: "No more words, time to act.

"Due to the escalation of the aggression of the Russian Federation towards Ukraine, the Polish national team does not intend to play the play-off match against the republic of Russia."

Cash also delivered is own statement along with the players on social media which read: "We, the players of the Polish national team, together with the Polish Football Association, decided that as a result of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, we do not intend to play in the play-off match against Russia.

"It is not an easy decision, but there are more important things in life than football.

"Our thoughts are with the Ukrainian nation and our friend from the national team, Tomasz Kedziora, who is still in Kiev with his family."
