Exclusive: Eoin Morgan and Jofra Archer to commentate on England Tests for Sky Sports

Eoin Morgan and Jofra Archer will both work as commentators on Test matches for Sky Sports this summer, with Morgan to start on England’s first Test against New Zealand on Thursday.

Archer, who was recently ruled out of the entire summer with a stress fracture, will work on Test matches later this summer. The 27-year-old has suffered a series of injury problems in recent years, and has not played a Test since March 2021.

Morgan, who is 36, recently said that he was taking things “week by week” in the build-up to the Twenty20 World Cup in October, and could retire from international cricket by the end of this year.

“I’m always looking at my future,” he said. “I’m very honest about where the team need to go but if at any stage I haven't got the drive or don't think I'm contributing enough I'll be up front about it. The 50-over World Cup next year is a long way away so I can't comment on that now. The goal is the T20 World Cup.”

Morgan left the field as a precaution after feeling a tweak during Middlesex’s T20 Blast fixture at Radlett. As a precaution he did not bat in the hosts’ four-wicket victory, but at this stage there are not thought to be any major concerns over his availability in the coming weeks. Morgan’s next engagement as England limited-overs captain will be leading the side during the three one-day internationals against the Netherlands in Amstelveen, which begin on June 17.
