Exact dates Universal Credit, PIP, Child Benefit and more will rise as DWP and HMRC to increase benefits this month

Benefit and tax credit claimants across the country will see an increase to their payments this month.

It comes after the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) confirmed that benefits will rise in line with inflation - by 6.7 per cent. However, different payments will increase on different dates.

Furthermore, you may see your payment increase slightly later than others depending on when you are scheduled to receive your benefit.

Housing benefits and council tax reductions will see new rates and allowances from today . This is so it coincides with the new council tax rates.

It is also the same week many people will see changes to their rent.

All means-tested benefits will be uprated on the first Monday after the new tax year which lands on April 8 this year. The following benefits will receive an increase:

The rate will be applied automatically so benefit claimants don't need to do anything. However, real payment dates with the new rate will differ depending on your regular payment date.

Most people on Universal Credit won't see an increase in their benefit payments until May or June. This is because payments are issued seven days after each monthly assessment period. That means those whose assessment periods started before the April 8 rise will see the benefits rise in May however, those whose assessment period started after won't see it until June.
