Everything Darwin Nunez alternative Sasa Kalajdzic has said about transfer amid Man United links

Manchester United’s sights may reportedly be firmly locked on Darwin Nunez, but there is a real possibility they could lose out to rivals Liverpool.

The Reds are mulling over a bid for the 22-year-old if Sadio Mane leaves for Bayern Munich. United are targeting Nunez as a supporting reinforcement for Cristiano Ronaldo, following his 34 goals in 41 games for Benfica last season. But should they not get their man, they may turn to Sasa Kalajdzic.

The Stuttgart striker, who at 6ft7’ is the Bundesliga’s tallest player, netted 17 goals in the 2020/21 campaign and ended the term with six goals in his final 11 matches. United have been quietly linked with the 24-year-old, who offers similar aerial ability to Nunez.

Three of his six goals this time around were headers while he netted eight goals with his forehead the season prior. United were lacking when it came to set-pieces this campaign and so may look to bring him in as a Divock Origi-like wildcard.

Bayern Munich are also keeping tabs on Kalajdzic, who hasn’t refrained from talking about his future over the last month, and year.
